Chapel Pit Nature Reserve

A small flooded clay pit just north of Chapel Point. The clay was dug out to repair the sea banks after the 1953 floods, and the pit is now fringed with reedbeds. Fifteen kinds of duck have been recorded here, mostly in winter. Reed and sedge warblers breed in summer, and thousands of swallows and martins roost in late summer. You watch from viewpoints by the road.
