Skegness Beach
A wide, flat Blue Flag beach right in front of the town, with RNLI lifeguards from late May to early September. Barbecues aren't allowed on East Lindsey beaches.
Free things to do on the Lincolnshire coast
A day by the sea doesn't have to cost much. The Lincolnshire coast has miles of open beach, several nature reserves you can walk into at any time, and a handful of attractions that charge nothing or ask only for a donation.
Free entry doesn't always mean free parking, so we've noted where car parks charge. Opening times for seasonal places change through the year, so check before a special trip.

Beaches and seafronts
Skegness Pier
Walking onto the pier costs nothing. You only pay for the extras inside, like bowling, laser quest or the arcades.

The Cloud Bar
A free timber platform on the dunes at Anderby Creek, built for naming the clouds overhead. Pair it with a walk on one of the quietest beaches on the coast.
Queens Park
Mablethorpe's seafront park is open around the clock, with a free water play area. Some extras, like the boating and crazy golf, are run separately and charge.
Nature reserves and walks
Gibraltar Point National Nature Reserve
The reserve is open at all times and free to walk. The car parks are pay-and-display and close at dusk.

Saltfleetby-Theddlethorpe Dunes National Nature Reserve
Eight kilometres of wild dunes and marsh north of Mablethorpe. Most car parks ask only for a voluntary donation; Mablethorpe North End charges in summer.

A wooded valley on the edge of Louth with stepping stones across the River Lud, open dawn to dusk. Parking at the Crowtree Lane entrance may be charged.

Northcote Heavy Horse Centre
Entry to this heavy horse sanctuary is free, with donations welcome. It opens on weekday afternoons in summer.
